Hi anon! Are you talking about hood deco trees? I answered something similar to this over here. With the exception of that converted CS orangutan tree, I use only Maxis hood deco trees and these forests by Gwenke. 🙂

I am aware that it is large and cumbersome – for example, the second floor is divided into two halves that aren’t connected because I didn’t want to compromise the high ceiling in the entryway. But I love the whole thing too much to care. 😛

Top- and bottom-only clothes are a great way to introduce versatility to your Sims’ clothing, such as more shoe options, without needing an individual mesh for each combination. I tend to use top-only dresses (to combine with other bottoms) more than I use bottom-only dresses (to pair with jackets/cardigans/etc), but it definitely allows for more creativity as far as outfits go!

Hey! Have you tried cameraman mode? To get low shots like that, I press the tab key to enter cameraman mode, then use the arrows on the keyboard to move the camera up or down. It lets you zoom in closer and get more precise angles for your screenshots. 🙂

Well, I used a standard Maxis beach lot to make the boardwalk and used the “deck” foundation to slightly elevate it. For the pier itself (that extends over the water), I used this lovely tutorial by mustluvcatz! ❤

Buy mode, build mode, CAS, etc.? For starters, I can direct you to my newly-constructed resource page. I’m afraid there’s not much there yet in terms of objects/build mode, but I covered my CAS cc pretty exhaustively, as well as my mods folder. 🙂
Some quick build/buy recommendations off the top of my head: veranka, hafiseazale, HugeLunatic, shastakiss, Amovitam, HCove, Buggybooz, m0xxa, HolySimoly, Leefish, Phoenix_Phaerie, Macarossi, Windkeeper.
Even though it’s no longer updated, trappingcrushes is a great place to search for cc – use the tags to narrow down your search. And if you’re looking to get swept up in the world of clutter where no one can hear you scream, ano2uk is the place for you. :3
As for “worlds,” they work a little differently in TS2. For the most part, I download empty neighborhood terrains (typically by voleste or nimitwinklesims) and build them up from scratch. If you search through the neighborhood tag on MTS, though, you’ll come across a few pre-built & ready-to-play hoods.

I’m sorry I took so long to reply – I was putting together a resource page that I could easily direct you to. 🙂 As far as hair goes, I only use Remi’s textures, so selenaq13 is basically my go-to hair retexture person. I have a few other links there too – most of them don’t update anymore, or no longer post hair in Remi’s colors/textures.
As for unnatural colors, my game is sadly lacking in those. 😦 You’ve reminded me I need to hunt for more MM unnaturals! (Or make them myself…) The ones I do have are by alienpod and nyren.
