Your Sycamore Cove is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Would you ever consider uploading the entire neighborhood? I know it’d be a big file, but your design is so beautiful, I’d love to explore it myself (Building isn’t my strong suite). I’m sure there would be bugs, but I’d be willing to sort those out myself. Thanks in advance!!

Awww, anon! ;_; Thank you so much for the wonderful compliments. ❤ I’m afraid I won’t be uploading the entire neighborhood, though. 😦 For starters, I don’t know the first thing about uploading a whole neighborhood. D: Also, I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t just be buggy – it seems like there are a million things that could go wrong with uploading an inhabited neighborhood. D:

For the neighborhood itself, I placed a lot of hood deco to fill in the “urban” part of town, but as you can see from this post, the majority of the terrain is still empty. (I didn’t even have to place the trees – voleste did all the work!). So the neighborhood itself isn’t all that fleshed out, anyway. 😉

As for buildings, there are some exceptions (such as the boardwalk – damn finicky beach lots), but I’m willing to upload many of the lots I build should anyone request it. I’d also post floor plans/overhead views of anything else you’d like to see! I’ve actually been meaning to build a couple of empty shell/low-CC homes as a followers’ gift of sorts (also because I need some in my own game XD). I could do a community lot or two as well. 🙂 So, I wouldn’t say I’m open for lot requests per se, but I’m definitely open to suggestions for when I finally get around to doing this!

Hi! Do you know if deleting Maxis’ collection files would mess up my game? I just want to have CC only collection files in that section, and sorting through all of Maxis’ is kinda annoying XD

This is a good question! I haven’t tried to do that myself, and a quick google search didn’t really turn up anything. So I’m not sure. D: I use quite a few custom collections myself, but I use the “organize collections” option in-game to move all my custom ones to the front of the catalogue and rearrange them in order of how frequently I use them, etc. (OMSP collection is always number one!)

The organize-collection feature is kind of tedious (you move the collection up or down the line one click at a time), but if you have all your custom ones in the beginning, you won’t have to pass all the Maxis ones to find something. 🙂

Do you look up floorplans, just build on whim or download most of your homes?

Hi there! I’ve tried looking up floor plans in the past, but I’m miserable at following them. Sometimes I’ll look up floor plans to get a general idea for a layout, but mostly I build on a whim. Oddly enough, I spend more time looking up inspiration for exteriors, and then just winging the layout of the interior myself.

For example, for the loft lot I googled “brooklyn factory loft apartment” and opened a couple pictures in a new tab – some interior, some exterior. The actual building and floor plan I did myself (that’s why it’s so lame :D), but I took some inspiration for color schemes and decor and such from the search results. 🙂

Thanks so much for your custom dormie post! Do you have any updated links to where empty/clean neighborhood templates can be downloaded? Everything I find is outdated.

Hi there! Sorry for the delay in responding.

If you just want empty templates (no playables, townies, or NPCs whatsoever, you will have to prompt the game to spawn them especially if you’ve downloaded the notownieregen/nodormieregen mods, etc.) – you can grab them all in one handy .zip in Pooklet’s thread HERE.

If you want clean templates (which, as the MATY thread would lead me to believe, contain Maxis neighborhoods and playables, but shouldn’t have townies/dormies/etc.), you can get them from HERE (thank you to the kind soul on MATY who put this working link up.)

I would actually suggest reading through the MATY thread – it’s a bit lengthy and some of the information early on may be outdated, but it will definitely be helpful in answering a lot of questions on starting clean, custom neighborhoods, keeping file sizes down, and generally preventing the game from becoming unnecessarily bloated.

You could post a floor plan that’s fine :) even though I wouldn’t mind painting recolors not showing up. If you prefer you don’t have to link any CC. sorry it’s just the most beautiful house I’ve ever seen for ts2 *__*

Here we go, anon friend! My terribly unexciting floorplans. 😀

I was planning to make this a two-unit apartment block, but I think I went too crazy with the outdoor spaces on the first unit (even though everything is fully fenced-in?) that I’m not sure if the game will recognize is at part of the apartment and not common space. I have to put a copy in my test hood and see. 🙂

Third floor (which isn’t a floor at all but the level I added to give the “high ceiling” effect).

Second floor (the “actual” floor). Also with balcony access!

aAAAAND ground floor, with both front and back garden spaces and a still-unfurnished bathroom. 😀 (To be fair, I almost never decorate houses before moving sims in anyway, but I got a little excited about this one…) Check out my sweet pipe-laying skills in the kitchen and don’t ask me how long it took.

Hope this helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to send another message!

Hi! WCIF is the green bike from post/119657269719 and the black window with a window-sill from post/119718484744 ? Thank you in advance!

Hello hello!

Bike by veranka HERE. There’s also a posebox if you want your sims to “ride” the bikes! My sims just leave their bikes lying around, unfortunately (much like myself ahem).

Window by CuriousB HERE. I looooove this window, I wish I had more windows with a sill like this!

Enjoy!

How do you populate a dorm with custom sims? Does it have to be a custom neighborhood, or could I do it in one of the base game ones if I wanted to?

Hi there! To make my custom dorm (and my custom hood in general), firstly, I used empty templates. I did this so the game wouldn’t spawn EAxis townies and NPCs. (This tutorial spells out the process of installing empty neighborhood templates better than I ever could! I follow it every time I do a reinstall.) As for creating the actual townies, there are a couple of ways you can do this – you can choose to batch create townies (the game will randomly generate townies for you), or you can create completely custom townies to your own liking in bodyshop, and then townify them. I went into more detail about creating custom townies in my post HERE. 🙂

I’m not sure if you mean populating a Maxis dorm as in the lot itself, or populating a premade Uni subhood (such as Sim State University) with custom dormies. If you want to use a premade Maxis dorm building and plop it into your own university subhood, as long as you followed the instructions to install empty neighborhood templates and placed the necessary antiredundancy/notownieregen/nodormieregen mods in your Downloads folder, you will be able to spawn or create your own dormies and they will move into the building. I’m fairly certain the same thing would work if you wanted to add an entire Maxis uni subhood as long as you had empty templates installed. (Someone correct me if I’m wrong??? I either use completely Maxis neighborhoods with townies and all, or completely empty ones. I’ve not tried the middle-of-the-road attempt. D:)

I feel like I’m babbling now and I’m not sure if I’m making any sense. XD SO UM here’s another link for you that might break it down a little more. I think some of the links at the end of the page are dead, but you can follow the instructions to determine what you’re looking for (empty vs. clean templates, etc.). The GoS tutorial has a link to download empty templates if you need them. 🙂

Please let me know if you need further clarification on anything! I’m a bit sleep-deprived and thought this would be a good time to answer messages so I’m sorry if I’m completely unhelpful. D:

Would you ever upload that beautiful house in your recent post? *__*

Hi friend! Unfortunately, it’s packed with CC – and not the kind that easily packages, either. The house is like 95% painting recolors which would take me an unholy amount of time to track down and link to. D: It’s also a very plain shape – your run-of-the-mill boxy apartment.

If you’d like, I can post the floor plan soon (even though there’s not much to it)? I don’t have my game open at the moment because I’ve been organizing my bodyshop defaults, but I can do it as soon as I have it loaded again. 🙂

And as always, if you see anything specific you want from the screenshots, feel free to send me a WCIF!
