I messaged asking about what neighborhoods you used for Sycamore Cove & Windham but I just found them in your ask tag! So instead I’ll ask if you have any tips for someone who’s trying to build up their own custom ‘hood? I usually only play with premades so I’m looking at all the blank space wondering what to do with it.

Very good question, anon! I’m actually rather bad at filling up custom hoods. :3 Out of all my custom hoods, Sycamore Cove is the most complete, you could say? Even though it’s far from being full, as you can see. XD I tend to focus on one area at a time to give the illusion of having a crowded, densely populated urban hood. I’m starting to spread out into the more “suburban” areas, but I still have a long way to go before I even come close to filling the terrain. Hood deco is a LIFESAVER when it comes to making your hood look nice and full without having to actually build things. 😀 I didn’t even have to plunk down the trees – voleste included a decorated version of the neighborhood for download. 😀

As for filling it with Sims, it all depends on your play style. I like to play in rounds, so starting off with 3-5 households is usually sufficient, especially since they’ll marry off and have kids, and before you know it you’ll have a ton of active households. 🙂 I’ve also been itching to try a BaCC (although I haven’t decided what rule set to follow/how strict to be with it). But generally most BaCCs have rules for how many families you should start with and when you can start “unlocking”/building community lots, etc. It might be nice to have some sort of guidelines to follow while you’re getting your new hood off the ground instead of being like me and building 800 community lots before completing a single round of gameplay

It will never look as good as, say, speakinginsimlish‘s stunning custom hood. But a girl can dream, eh? 😀

Hi Christine! I was wondering how you are able to place your lots so close together in your town. This post kind of shows what I mean: post/120913785915 Thank you!!

Hi hi anon! That would be the magic of hood deco. 😀 The only actual lot in the picture is the one I was playing – the skating rink. The other buildings are conversions of assorted TS3 rabbit holes and Late Night deco buildings by Delonariel and CuriousB. I also have this mod which allows hood deco to be placed on lots – allowing me to overlap deco buildings with my lots to give the illusion of a densely populated city. 😀

I hope this helps!

Hi! I just wanted to say that your blog is utterly gorgeous and really inspiring! Also, thank you for always being so sweet and helpful. I know you go out of your way to help people, and I think I speak for everyone when I say we really appreciate it!

This is so sweet of you, anon! I’m quite speechless right now, but I can assure you that this gif is an accurate representation of my emotions. :’D Thankyouthankyouthankyou! ❤ ❤ ❤

Hey! Your blog is so inspirational like woah, I can’t even imagine how awesome you decorate. I was curious what an uberhood was and also where you got your cc? Sorry, I’m new to the the sims 2 scene. :p

Awwww, thank you, friend! 😀

An uberhood is a combination of any of the Maxis premade neighborhoods using one as the main hood and attaching any number of the others as subhoods. So your Strangetown Sims can visit Pleasantview and interact with Pleasantview Sims, and more! I assembled mine using these templates by meetmetotheriver. 🙂

As for CC, I have about 17 GB right now – obviously, I’ve accumulated all of this content from a number of places. 😛 For starters, you can check my resource page (although it’s a bit lacking in build and buy mode recommendations at the moment). You can also look through my WCIF tag. 🙂 I’m always willing to answer WCIFs – I just ask that you be specific with what you’re looking for!
