Hi guys!

I have quite a news… The thing I’ve been working on in the past days is finally ready and you can find it here:

https://ts1tots2database.dreamwidth.org/

It’s an updated version of @crispsandkerosene database – I honestly thought the admin was someone else, so I started over instead of continuing her work – she agreed to keep both of them active at the same time, but of course the main credits go to her for the hard work!

Hope you guys will enjoy it 🙂

Credits and thanks:
@crispsandkerosene
@2fingerswhiskey
@shastakiss
@chrisnewbie
@thesims1master

whoa this brings back memories! didn’t realize how many ts1 to ts2 conversions there are out there. thank you for putting this together!

Origin and Sims 2

celebkiriedhel:

I’ve been told that the fix to stop Origin from needing to be running in the background is to replace the Sims2EP9.exe with the noCD version of it.

Gamecopyworld has a sims 2 You need to download this one:

The Sims 2: Mansion Garden Stuff v1.0 [MULTI16] No-DVD/Fixed EXE

You will be installing it in –

Program Files (x86)Origin GamesFun with PetsSP9

TSBin

Rename your old version first so that you don’t lose it if there’s a problem.

Origin is a dog, and anything we can do to not need it to play a game we’ve paid for is good by me.

Do not use the above link – multiple people have told me about viruses and malware going on that site. 😦

Here is a new link. This is George. George is the one that I use, and have used for the last mumble,mumble years where mumble,mumble is greater than 10 years. Guaranteed no virus.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/354wm7mybbhbh5t/George.rar?dl=0

George does exactly what the above does except that he doesn’t give your PC viruses.

Feel free to upload George to your own fileshare servers (NOT SFS please) and share your own links as well.

Does anyone know how add the elder stage to custom hair?

Actually this is as easy as pie!! If you use the Wardrobe Wrangler, you open the hair recolor and in the adult section, you check the elder box as well and save. If you use SimPe, you open your recolor and, in the adult property set, you change the age string from 0x00000008 to 0x00000018. Commit and save. Your hair now has an elder stage., which it shares with the adult one.

Now if you want your hair to have a stage for each age (adult with one color and elder with gray/white), you use the hair you just modify to create a new project in Bodyshop.

So it’s really simple and take a couple of minutes (Bodyshop loading time not included 😉

I also recommand to take a look at Almighty Hat’s SimPe tricks, as this is a really important and useful post, with a lot of things you’ll be glad to know!!!

Wow thank you! This is easier than I thought it would be. I actually edit property sets in my game all the time, but I wasn’t sure if I could just edit a recolour or if I had to actually edit the mesh package 😀 Thanks so much for this.

Now I can fix up all those old hairs with no elder stages!!

How do you make over the hobby lots?!? I didn’t know that was possible :O btw your builds are so awesome! :D

Hey, nonnie! There’s instructions here on MATY–the basic gist is that it involves a little mucking around in SimPE. The hobby subhood and each of the lots need to be temporarily recategorized in order to make changes and have them save.

Each hobby lot also needs to be visited before you edit it or the lots won’t work correctly, apparently. I gave my usual testing sim all the hobby cards by maxing her hobby enthusiasms with boolProp and using the add missing hobby cards option on the Batbox, then sent her to the lots.

I’m not sure how well this method has been tested, so if you want to have a go, make sure to back up your neighborhood first. As far as I know, this method should be okay, but this is TS2. I assume the hobby subhood is hidden for a reason, though whether that’s because we shouldn’t be mucking around it or just because EAxis has this thing about hidden lots being genuinely hidden, I can’t say.

Personally, I make monthly backups of Middleground as well as one before I do something weird, like making over hobby lots or that time I decided to make a bunch of vampire downtownies, so I can rollback if something goes boom.

By the by, I just went and tested one of the edited lots and everything seems to be working. 😀 Hobby maven and some townies were there and all that.

Just a little heads-up: In TS2, if you use the type of foundation with pillars, you can use the sledgehammer tool to remove the pillars (but keep the foundation) afterwards IF you have moveobjects on.

You can essentially create floating foundations this way! Apart from fantasy applications, this could also be useful for making things like caravans/trailers using deco wheels, or for replacing the pillars with something nicer.

Hood Deco Resource List

image

One of the things I get asked most often is where I find my hood deco, so I’ve been meaning to make a master list. 🙂

Use THIS MOD to enable neighborhood deco to be placed on/overlapping lots!

As I come across other links, I’ll update this post. 🙂

hey, christine! i just got ts2 and i never ever played it so i’m a little bit lost – even i’ve been playing ts3 for so long. I just got this little question: i really love maxis match stuff and i want to know where i get cc for it? i see your ts2 pics and just want to put everything on my game lol and i want to know where i get better world that isn’t made by ea? thanks in advance, love your pictures!

Hi there! Thank you so much, I’m glad you like my pictures. 😀 And welcome to the wonderful world of TS2! *hands you tea and cookies* As for cc recommendations, could you be a bit more specific? Buy mode, build mode, CAS, etc.? For starters, I can direct you to my newly-constructed resource page. I’m afraid there’s not much there yet in terms of objects/build mode, but I covered my CAS cc pretty exhaustively, as well as my mods folder. 🙂

Some quick build/buy recommendations off the top of my head: veranka, hafiseazale, HugeLunatic, shastakiss, Amovitam, HCove, Buggybooz, m0xxa, HolySimoly, Leefish, Phoenix_Phaerie, Macarossi, Windkeeper.

Even though it’s no longer updated, trappingcrushes is a great place to search for cc – use the tags to narrow down your search. And if you’re looking to get swept up in the world of clutter where no one can hear you scream, ano2uk is the place for you. :3

As for “worlds,” they work a little differently in TS2. For the most part, I download empty neighborhood terrains (typically by voleste or nimitwinklesims) and build them up from scratch. If you search through the neighborhood tag on MTS, though, you’ll come across a few pre-built & ready-to-play hoods.

Hope this helps you get started! Again, if there’s anything more specific I can help you with, just let me know. 🙂
