Help!

Suddenly, my game won’t launch. It launched perfectly fine the last time I played (3 days ago). I have deleted the .cache files, attempted to load with all my downloads extracted, cleared my temp files etc, and am launching from the C:/Program Files file, not a shortcut (which I usually do anyway).

I don’t get an error message of any kind, my computer goes through all the motions and it simply “exhales” and then does nothing, where the screen would usually go black for a moment and then the Sims 2 screen would start loading.

Body Shop loads without issue.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

I have no suggestions beside what mikexx2 already tried, but… signal boost! Maybe someone knows?

Save The Downloads!

It’s been brought to my attention that Dropbox is going to disable the public folder and deactivate links. This could wreak havoc on download archives for retired creators, and it is suspected that Trapping in particular is in danger of this. We all know how popular her content is and it would be a shame to lose it.

If we spread the word, perhaps we can gather all her files and rehost them before they disappear 🙂

this thread at the Dropbox forum discusses it

*reblogs for more visibility*

Would it make sense to start thread over at GoS or somewhere about this and try gathering creators whose files need to be saved and then coming up with some sort of plan for who’s downloading and rehosting what and so on? I’m definitely up for helping with downloading and rehosting files but unable to organize project that big.

Definitely needs a home base somewhere, otherwise it will be an unorganized mess. A forum setting might be more tidy, actually.

Thank you for posting the link, @shastakiss. Bit of an oversight on my part :/

Okay, here’s a new board for it at Garden of Shadows. Please join the discussion, suggestions are very welcome.

Get rid of Securom if you play Sims 2

nerianasims:

I keep seeing people talk about Sims 2 bugs that they ascribe to either Windows 10 or the Ultimate Collection that are actually due to Securom. For instance, if your buy/build catalog is lagging, I can almost guarantee it’s because of Securom.

Securom’s always caused problems, but Microsoft itself has said that it’s incompatible with Windows 10. They purposefully broke compatibility with Securom and other old DRM programs because they make one’s system more vulnerable, so you need to get this thing off your computer. EA did not remove it from the Ultimate Collection on Origin (which was irresponsible of them), so you have to do it yourself.

Removing Securom is very easy to do and only takes a couple steps. Here is a clear thread on leefish about how to do it: http://leefish.nl/mybb/showthread.php?tid=6688

Before reinstalling, rolling back, anything else, try removing Securom. Even if you have no performance problems, if you still have Securom, get rid of it. It’s not a safe program to have on your computer.

Sims 2 Community

Okay so since we have such a tiny group of creators nowadays I say we start sharing what we know and create tutorials for new people to learn and continue making content for this game. I will make a tutorial on how I make my clothes and hopefully some of you will take that and start creating clothes to share for others to use. Please if you know anything, how to shoe swap, convert objects, retexture hair, anything please make one as well and contact me to help you spread it. Share this for more Sims 2 simmers to see and join in! Only by sharing we can keep growing.

Signal boosting because I think this is a great idea! I’ve been playing TS2 since its inception, but I only started creating recently (and by that, I mean I learned how to make defaults and hair retextures). I was able to do this with the help of some great tutorials written by fellow members of our TS2 community! I know it takes time and energy to put together a tutorial, but the effort does not go unappreciated. There are so many other things I’d like to teach myself, such as shoeswaps and conversions. Let’s keep our creative community alive!
