1.) What is your unpopular opinion about the Sims? (i.e. not liking Makin’ Magic, hating premades, etc.)
Hmmm, I don’t know if I have an unpopular opinion. I just really dislike the way TS3 Sims look. D: It’s a shame because the scenery is stunning (and we all know how much I love scenery screenshots). Lag issues aside, it’s the major reason I can’t bring myself to ever play TS3 (also teh babs are creepy). The Sims look like they have no personality to me. D: Of course, I’ve come across the blogs of many talented TS3 Simmers who bring such refreshing life to their creations! But any time I tried to fiddle around with CAS myself, I couldn’t seem to make them look any different from each other.

2.) Any sort of collections?  Anything, from bottle caps to safety pins.
I have a mini lighthouse collection. 😛 It’s not an “official” collection by any means, but I can count at least 4-5 in my room at the moment (figurines, lamps, candle holders, etc.) in addition to my lighthouse calendar and lighthouse bracelet. It’s kind of my thing. 😛 I also have an addiction to teapots – this has yet to manifest itself in real life yet (no room for them, as I still live at home with parents), but when I have my own place you bet I’ll be collecting them. 😀 (I have dozens of cc teapots in my game and I can’t bring myself to delete a single one.)

3.) What is the true reason you find yourself so drawn to the Sims franchise?
It’s so hard to narrow it down to a single reason! I was first lured in by the building and decorating aspect (TS1 days). I love being able to be creative without the pesky “goals” or timed challenges of other games. It’s a game that I can play at my own pace – I can play for eight hours a day for a week straight, or put it down for a month and not lose momentum. Some days I like to build, some days I like to decorate, some days I like to play. If I want to start a new hood or play with a different family, I can do so at any time. It’s like a bunch of games within a game, really. I don’t have to worry about completing a certain “level” to unlock the next one. I can play it however I want, when I want. 🙂 And everyone plays their game so differently! That’s what keeps the Sims community so alive – there are always different Simmers with different aesthetics who play the game differently. I’m never at a loss for inspiration. 🙂 

4.) If you could banish one celebrity from the face of the earth, who would it be?
At the present time? Donald Trump.

5.) Describe your simming aesthetic in a single conglomerated sentence.
I’m a mostly Maxis-match, clutter-addicted, community-lot-building enthusiast.

1) Your favorite ice cream flavor?
Vanilla. I am a boring ice cream eater. 😛 Although if I had to spice it up a bit, vanilla chocolate chip. 😛

2) Dog person, cat person, rodent person, reptile person, fish person, invetebrate person, or bird person?
I’m not much of a pet person (not by choice – haven’t had the opportunity to have many pets in my apartment so it’s hard to tell if I even have a preference). I’ve had parakeets though, which are adorable. 🙂 I suppose in the future I’d like to have a dog – a big lovable one that looks like a wolf. 😀

3) How many siblings do you have?
Biologically? One sister (hi afc-sims). But if you consider my sorority…dozens. ;D

4) What’s the last book you read, and was it any good?
I have a bad habit of starting books and not finishing them. I blame my Kindle for putting so many books at my disposal at a single time. 😛 Although to be fair, I have a habit of rereading things instead of starting something new, so it’s not like I’m leaving a book unfinished (I already know how they end). Currently I’m doing this with Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris (because I’ve been rewatching True Blood). It’s enjoyable, but not amazing. I’m a bit biased – I don’t think I’d be as big a fan if I didn’t already like the show. I’m also still plugging away at A Dance with Dragons (which I haven’t actually read yet, so, surprises!).

5) Tell me about your favorite Sim and why you like them. 
Ah, tricky question! I can’t single out just one Sim, but if I had to pick a favorite household it would be the Bushby-Pamuk household. 🙂 Sheila was the first Sim I created in this neighborhood, but I’ve gotten far more attached to Tabitha and Nate. I love their chemistry and personalities – they just seem like this really hip and passionate couple that always does cool things even when they’re married or (soon-to-be) with kids. Young at heart, if you will. The’re just so much fun. 🙂

§: Do you use cheats?

I mainly use build-y/decorate-y cheats, like move_objects or snapobjectstogrid, etc. I guess some of the mods I have installed could be considered cheat-y as well? But no, I don’t use motherlode or anything like that. 🙂 

¥ : Have you played any other Sims games besides 2 & 3?

Yup! I’ve been playing the Sims since the good ol’ TS1 days – which, for me, went well into 2006 (when I finally got a new computer that could handle TS2). I still play it from time to time – it’s fantastic and gives me a healthy dose of nostalgia. 😀 I’ve also tried TS4 – I enjoy, it didn’t pull me in like TS1 and TS2 though. I can see myself going back to it as new expansion packs and content are released, though. 🙂 I also dabbled in TS3 – did not like, too glitchy, very laggy, etc.

I was probably trying to make a Sim of myself, so I would guess Christine. :3 I really don’t remember, though!

Oh boy. :X

GAH, where to begin? As you can plainly see above, I am a CC addict, so I have many creators whose work I love. 🙂 For starters, I would be nowhere without veranka’s conversions and selenaq13’s hair retextures. Many of my other favorite creators are listed on my resources page, and even more are mentioned here!

╫ : Do you play with premades? Who is your favorite?

I haven’t in quite some time. : I guess the Sims in Pleasantview are the ones I’ve played with most often, although I do remember loving Nervous Subject and the Curious brothers during my last round in Strangetown. 🙂

ɔ: Have you made CC before? Or at least try to? 

I have! Not much, but I have. 😛 I’ve done recolors of a top I really loved, and I also tried my hand at making custom paintings for Thora’s birthday. 🙂 I would love to attempt more – recolors, more paintings, and some unnatural hair recolors of some of my favorite styles. 🙂 I’m mostly just too lazy to sit down and actually do it – futzing with values in SimPE to make defaults is about as dedicated as I get these days. XD

ƒ: What was the first expansion pack you bought? 

I really can’t remember the first expansion pack I bought for TS2! D: It was either Seasons or BV. I remember borrowing the discs for Uni, NL, Pets, etc. from a friend. (I purchased TS2 the day it came out, and of course I didn’t have a computer capable of running it until two years later. D: I was rockin’ TS1 in the meantime!)

If you could design the perfect EP (for any of the games), what would it be?

  • LORD OF THE RINGS EP! Heh, just kidding (or am I?). Sorry, that’s the kind of mood I’m in right now. 😛 In all seriousness, I’m going to mooch off thorarosebird’s answer and say that a historical EP of sorts would be AWESOME. I also wouldn’t say no to a mid-century modern stuff pack. ;D

Do you like playing challenges or do you find them too restrictive? Which are your favourite challenges?

  • I’m a big poophead who doesn’t really play challenges. D: I’m not sure why, I’ve just never really attempted any. I guess my favorite would be the legacy challenge – it’s fairly relaxed and I really enjoy developing family dynamics among my Sims. 🙂 I’d like to try a legacy challenge in the future with some additional challenges or restrictions built in – such as accomplishing certain goals within each generation. 

Which are your favourite maxis neighbourhoods (in TS2) and/or worlds (in TS3)?

  • Strangetown, Pleasantview, Belladonna Cove. 

Do you prefer playing maxis or custom neighbourhoods/worlds?

  • Usually custom, but I enjoy playing both!

What is your favourite aspect of the simming community?

  • I love how I can disappear sporadically from time to time when RL gets a little crazy – when I come back, it’s like I never left. 🙂 Everyone is so welcoming and friendly and supportive in so many ways! I can only speak for the TS2 community, but I’d like to think we’re a pretty close-knit group of Simmers. We come from different backgrounds and play with different aesthetics. Some of us are builders and decorators, some of us are Sim sculptors, some of us are storytellers. But ultimately we respect, appreciate, and continuously inspire each other and I LOVE being a part of this community. 😀 ❤

What is your favourite aspect of the game (gameplay, creating sims, building…)?

  • Gameplay! (If I ever make it that far…) I usually dread building, mostly because I’m terribly slow and inept at it. I love decorating though. 🙂 I have to be in the right kind of mood to play around in Bodyshop…

Do you think you could play the game completely without CC?

  • Nope. D: I’M ALREADY IN TOO DEEP.

How long does it take you to build, decorate and make a lot ready for a sim to move in?

  • Oh dear lord, anywhere from hours to days (or weeks, if I haven’t been playing regularly). It’s rarely all done in one sitting, I’ll tell you that. XD 

Is than any aspect of the game that you wished you enjoyed more?

  • Building. 😦 *snuggles up to favorite builders in an attempt to steal talent through osmosis*’

What are your hobbies other than simming?

  • Sleeping, eating, drinking coffee. 😀 Nah, but really. I enjoy reading and binge-watching television shows. (Fun fact: I REALLY enjoy re-watching/re-reading things, and I tend to pick up something I’ve already read/watched instead of trying something new.) I also love aimlessly walking around Manhattan.

I don’t have any questions this time around because I’m the worst I worked thirteen hours today and my brain is fried. 😦 And also I’m pretty sure a lot of you got tagged already. But if anyone wants to share their answers, I highly recommend i-mi’s questions for you. 😉 Tag, you’re it!

1. What is your favorite historical period?
Why do you make me choose? I think I’d have to go with the 1950s, or anything mid-century, really. I love the music, fashion, design, etc. 

2. If you could play any instrument, what would it be?
Piano or violin. Alas, I was not blessed with any musical inclination.

3. What animal defines you the best?
Sloth.

4. Who’s your favorite superhero?
Iron Man! (But really, we all know I love a supervillain more.) 

5. Do you like to travel?
Yes. I only wish I had more opportunities to do so.

6. Which do you prefer: Android, iPhone, or neither?
Having been a member of the Blackberry, Android, and iPhone camps, I think I’ll pledge allegiance to the iPhone.

7. What is your favorite genre of movies? Of music? (double question!)
Hrmmm, good question. I don’t think I lean toward a specific “genre” of movies. I like a little of everything. My favorite movies range from Lord of the Rings to The Avengers to Lost in Translation.  I can appreciate a good movie regardless of genre. 😛 My favorite music genres include indie, folk, new wave, doo-wop, and traditional Irish music. 😛 

8. What’s the corniest joke you know? 
PRETTY MUCH ANYTHING DAD SAYS. “Dad, did you get a haircut?” “No, I got them all cut." 

9. If you could have any of these (but only one) which would you choose: fame, fortune, or good looks?
Merrrr. I suppose fortune. At least then I’d have money to travel and finally be able to afford an apartment in Manhattan…

10. Do you read your horoscope?
Nah.

11. If you could be remembered for anything, what would it be?
I suppose I’d rather be remembered for how I was as a person rather than any specific thing(s) I did. Mostly because I haven’t done anything of note… man, this question is hard. Damn you.

1. Describe your dream house.
An apartment in lower Manhattan. Ideally with lots of natural light (well, as much as can be expected from an apartment in the city) and some exposed brick. Or, like a dream dream house? A log cabin-esque home. Something like this. Nestled in the woods somewhere but complete with a teleporter to the city because I’m a city girl through-and-through and I’m not sure I’d ever be able to adapt to anything else. 

2. Cats or dogs?
I don’t really have a preference, honestly. I was never allowed a cat or a dog growing up so I think it’d be a great experience to have either one in the future.

3. What is your middle name and why was it given to you?
Elizabeth. My mom chose Elizabeth as her Confirmation name and then decided to give it to me as my middle name… I’m not sure if there’s any other significance to it besides that.

4. Has there ever been a moment in your life that felt more like a movie/tv than real life? What?
Ooh, good question. Nothing in particular comes to mind, sadly, but there have been many moments in my life where I’ve said, "I feel like I’m in a Seinfeld episode.” Because everything in life can relate to a Seinfeld episode.

5. Describe your favorite garment.
Well, it’s not one garment in particular, but I have an obsession with cardigans. I can never have too many of them. I need them in all kinds of colors and patterns, short ones and long ones, embroidered ones or plain ones. I wear them with everything. 

6. If you could wake up tomorrow able to do/make something that you can’t now, what would it be?
So many things. Play an instrument, speak another language, write a novel… crap, this makes me sound terribly unfulfilled. D: 

7. What is your favorite Holiday?
CHRISTMAS. Out of all the holidays, Christmas has my favorite family traditions. I love the whole Christmas season, actually. Yes, I’m one of those people who starts playing Christmas music the day after Thanksgiving. SUE ME.

8. What are your 3 favorite girls names?
Elizabeth, Victoria, Emily.

9. What are your 3 favorite boys names?

10. Name a food that makes you think of/is your favorite for:
A celebration: Barbecue.
A lazy evening by yourself: Anything I can order via Seamless (usually Indian food, pizza, or sushi).

I honestly have no idea. I had a heck of a time coming up with my own questions. XD

slyndseysims’ Questions: 

1. What’s your favorite expansion pack?
Dang, this is hard! I utilize components from all of them, obviously, but I think the ones that make the greatest difference in my gameplay are Apartment Life and Seasons. 

2. What’s your favorite piece of content that not custom?
Clothing-wise, I adore this outfit from H&M stuff pack. As for furniture, the first thing that comes to mind is the EKTORP sofa from IKEA. 🙂 

3. Would you rather play a huge family or a single sim?
Huge family. I’ve done the single-Sim thing for far too long (especially having just started a neighborhood from scratch). I get bored very easily with one Sim – job-hunting, skilling, socializing, repeat. It’s too easy to make their lives perfect. I like the chaos and craziness of bigger families. 🙂 

4. If you had to live in someone else’s game, whose would you choose?
So many! I love the homes/neighborhoods created by so many Simmers, such as slyndseysims, allisas, vimpse, starlla, selenaq13, thorarosebird, poppet-sims, boolparty, and more! If I had to choose a game/neighborhood to live in relative to my own real-life interests, though, threadandsandpaper wins – she achieves the urban look that I’ve come to know and love from living in the city. Her apartments are the kind I dream about renting IRL. 

5. How do you feel about pets?
I love giving my Sims pets. 🙂 If there’s one thing I think EAxis nailed, it was the pets for TS2. They’re adorable and I love all the animations associated with them.

6. What do you like to do with your elders?
I’ve only played with a handful of elders, to be honest. 😡 I either get bored with the Sim/family before they get to that point, or I get too attached and make them regular drinkers of the Elixir of Life. 😛 I’m going to try ~really hard~ with my current neighborhood to allow my Sims to reach the ripe old age of Elder! (Especially since I’ve spent so much time collecting dang CC for them…)

7. What’s your favorite challenge? (Legacies, bacc, queen bees, etc)
Again, to be honest, I haven’t done many challenges. 😛 I’ve attempted a legacy before, but only made it to the second generation. XD I stopped it because I had to have my motherboard replaced and when I got my computer back, I started with a clean reinstall. I’d like to try it again, though! BaCCs sound super cool, especially since so many of my favorite Simmers are doing them, but I don’t have the patience to follow a ruleset at the moment. 😛

*checks download history* Ah yes! Michael Bachelor. ❤ I’ve been feeling a bit uninspired in my custom ‘hood atm (I blame that blasted university I’m working on), so I’ve been dabbling in the premade neighborhoods. I am quite in love with whattheskell’s Michael Bachelor. 😉 

9. What color scheme do you abuse in game?
Not so much a color scheme at it is a decorating scheme, but I overuse brick walls and wood floors like nobody’s business. (My own personal decorating desires manifest themselves through my Sims. XD) I guess I also tend to use a lot of blue, green, and yellow. I almost never use pink and purple because of my aversion to those colors IRL. D:

10. Biggest inspiration?
Other Simmers! Seriously, there’s a reason I have over 10k likes on tumblr. XD But aside from all of you lovely folks, NYC is my biggest inspiration. I’m always taking pictures of buildings I see or fancy restaurants I eat in or cozy cafes I frequent with the intention of recreating them in-game. 

11. Opinion on ts4?
Not going to lie, the latest video has me excited. 😀 Only time will tell! (And even when it is released, it’ll probably be awhile before I invest in it, if I ever decide to.)
