To all who left comments…

…regarding toddlers/puppies:

I would love to respond to each and every one of you, but it would get rather redundant (I’d just be like “ACK! I KNOW! CUTENESS!” over and over again). But I appreciate every single one of your comments – thank you so much for taking the time to leave a note on my silly gameplay posts! And thank you for putting up with my unrestrained excitement re: born-in-game puppies. I promise I won’t spam your dashboards as much next time around… or will I?

Is if up for download?

It’s not up for download at the moment, but I have a clean copy in my test hood (along with the other houses I built from floor plans) and I’d like to put them up for download soon!

i find branching out in kitchens to be SO HARD. i know i keep reusing the same cabinets and colors even the shapes and it’s driving me crazy D: lmao even when i look at picture inspo somehow i slip back into my comfortable blues or yellows lmao aaaahhhhh. i really want to do a dang Scandinavian style kitchen sometime too! all the same LOVE YOURS

Ugh Scandinavian style is one of my favorites! ❤ I tend to look up modern/urban kitchens and a lot of them use clean lines and monochrome colors (as opposed to mission-style or craftsman kitchens with wood finishes). I need to branch out as well! I also look up inspiration from IKEA a lot (but that’s also to get ideas for a future apartment lmao)

Napping is a daily essential for me. 🙂 10/10 would recommend. 🙂

I took one today and it was glorious! I’d take more if those pesky 14-hour shifts didn’t get in the way. Time to live (or at least work) somewhere where they honor siestas. 😉

I am currently on page 45 of this gorgeous ‘hood, Fi! Loving every second of it, it’s so gorgeous and relaxing to read through chronologically a few minutes every morning while I have my coffee. Major inspiration for what I want Sedona to be like. Thank you for sharing this and for you being you!

So perfect 0_0 Also, I just finished reading through all of Sycamore Cove. So much love ❤ Ah! And where on earth can I find those round stones around the front gardens? :O

;________;  you are literally the sweetest person for saying all of these nice things about my little neighborhood ❤

I can’t tell you how much it means to me (and how happy it makes me to see you posting again AHHHHH I am so excited for Sedona and can’t wait to see how its families evolve!).

The stones are THESE by Windkeeper that I just clump around the flower beds. 🙂

Thank you again for everything!! ❤

Feeding my desire to play Sims 2 that cannot be fulfilled atm by looking through your sycamore cove tag (I must sound like a creep by saying that xD). But your game is truly beautiful ;___;

Ahhhh no you’re not a creep at all, silly! ❤️ This makes me so happy fweeeeee especially because I feel the same way about your game! Maple Leaf University is everything I want Windham to be. *__* And I’m forever in love with the reception hall so please don’t be surprised if you find that a heavily inspired version makes its way into my game. 😀

do you have any tips for new sims 2 players and getting your game to a point where you’re happy with its aesthetic and can play it? i really want to play the sims 2, but i always get frustrated because i feel like my game isn’t pretty enough/doesn’t look the way i want to and i don’t know how to fix it. how did you build up your mods folder and aesthetic, and do you have any suggestions for fixing this funk? thank you so much!!

Hey anon! First of all – welcome to the world of TS2! We’re still a very active and vibrant community, so it’s lovely to have new players joining our ranks. 😀

As for obtaining an aesthetic you’re happy with it, hmmm. There’s really no concrete advice I can give other than trying out a bunch of different styles and seeing what works best for your game! My downloads folder has pretty much run the gamut of styles over the decade I’ve been playing. There was a time I used tons of realistic content – realistic skins, pookleted hairs, photoskinned clothing. Actually, my early days were pretty much a mishmash of everything – if I saw something I liked (no matter what style), I put it in my game. 😛 (I guess I’m still guilty of doing this, to a degree!)

I blame tumblr for my obsession with Maxis-match. I’d never really been exposed to much Maxis-match content until I created this blog (although this could also be due to the fact that I took a few years’ hiatus while I was in college). I love the clean lines, cartoony/animated feel, and the way it blends in seamlessly with the default game design. I’m very big on playing the game (as opposed to people who prefer building, decorating, or staging photoshoots), and to me, it’s important for the neighborhood to be immersive. I like things to match – I don’t like having super realistic Sims walking around amidst a bright, cartoony neighborhood. Also, Sims themselves are cartoony and animated, and a lot of the interactions are silly and exaggerated. To me, personally, these animations look weird on super realistic-looking Sims (no matter how gorgeous and well-made they are!). But of course, this is all personal preference. (Ack, that was a bit of a tangent, but I get asked a lot about why I prefer Maxis-match, so – here are some reasons!)

As for building a mods folder, there’s no denying that it’s a daunting task. For most of us, it’s an ongoing ordeal. 🙂 But there are always easy places to start – for one thing, default replacements! Replace all the Maxis stuff you don’t like with content you do like. 🙂 Check out Garden of Shadows (check all the monthly themes, Advent events, Christmas in July threads, etc.) and Trapping Crushes (no longer updated but still an excellent resource) –  both have a wide variety of content to suit all gameplay styles and aesthetics, so you’re sure to find something you like. Visit some of your favorite blogs and see if they have a resource page or WCIF tag (I’ve found so much cool stuff by browsing people’s WCIF tags!). And of course, there are plenty of “finds” blogs on tumblr (like mine, for example, although I only updated sporadically :X). And not to keep plugging my own blog, but I made a pretty comprehensive mod list – feel free to look through it and see if anything there would be useful for your own gameplay needs!

The most important thing is not to worry about fitting into a certain aesthetic or trying to box yourself into one style. It’s your game, you can play however you’d like! I follow tons of blogs that mix and match styles – it doesn’t make them any less appealing (quite the opposite!). I wouldn’t even consider my blog very Maxis-match – I make a lot of exceptions, mostly where build/buy mode is concerned. It really just involves a lot of experimenting and playing around to see what you like. 🙂

And don’t get too caught up in trying to perfect your mods folder before you start playing – sometimes it helps to just dive into the game, and then you’ll come up with ideas for mods to add. Like, “oh, I should’ve downloaded a terrain replacement!” or “I’m feeling especially sadistic, I’m going to install the Triplets and Quads mod”. 🙂 My game is constantly changing and evolving, so I don’t think there’s ever going to be a time where I’m completely happy with my mods folder. I’m constantly adding things and cleaning stuff out (although admittedly there’s more adding than deleting going on… *guilty look*). But I haven’t felt the need to completely scrap my downloads folder since 2012 or 2013, so I guess I’m on the right track! 😀

Aaaaand don’t be afraid to get involved with the community. Most Simmers are WCIF-/question-friendly and would be happy to point you in the right direction if you see anything you’d like. And above all – don’t over-stress it!! It’s ultimately a game, after all, and it’s supposed to be fun. So play it in a way that’s fun for you, and not for the enjoyment of anyone else. 😉

HAVE FUN and also I’m sorry if this didn’t really answer your question, I have a bad habit of answering asks late at night after I’ve worked and my brain is essentially mush but you’re always welcome to send a follow-up message if you have more questions or want to chat 😀

That airplane wallpaper is so cute! I really need to get over my fear of patterned wallpaper. Seriously, I have none in my game because I never use it…

Haha! I have so many downloaded because I love the patterns or because they look so pretty in previews, but I never really use them once I’m in-game. I tend to make the exception for kids’ rooms, though. 😉 Also, clashing patterns everywhere!

I like it when they sit on the toilet, THEN GET UP, then do the Peepee Dance, and THEN pee on the floor. Like, dude! You were ON THE TOILET!

Sim logic at its finest! Although I can’t recall one of mine actually getting off the toilet to do the dance, that’s hilarious. 😛

Glad I’m not the only one who forgets baby names! But at least I have ‘em on a spreadsheet, so I’m not having to open SimPE. 🙂

Aaaaaand this is just one more example of what an incredibly unorganized person I am. 😉 (Really, it’s not like I’d have to manually keep written records of this stuff, it would take a few seconds to document it on a spreadsheet, but alas… I am lazy. :D)

i love this! i love how different it looks from your more urban areas, like it IS straight up suburban and the homes – at least from this glance – look so cozy and homey like lmao this is where you’d see kids playing in the street. so cute!

Ahhhhhhh thank you! I try! ❤ At least, that’s what I visualize the suburbs to be like, lmao. My boyfriend lives in a suburb so I take a lot of ideas from his neighborhood. The inspiration for the urban area comes from my neighborhood. ;D I guess I’m privy to the best of both? 😀
