*raises eyebrow* Are you sure you’re not pregnant? Nah, I’m kidding. 🙂 I’m actually not the type to get attached to my Sims, but if this is your longest-lived neighborhood, I can certainly understand sentimentality. 🙂

Hahaha! Not pregnant, no. Probably hormonal at the time, though. And a Family Sim at heart, regardless. ;D But yes, this is my longest-lived neighborhood by a long shot (although that’s not saying much), and I’m definitely the type to get way too attached to Sims. 😀

If I were a pharmacist, I’d be terrified of filling the bottle with the wrong pills. That actually happened to my aunt once, a long time ago; if she’d taken the pills she was given they’d have killed her. Fortunately, it was a pill she’d been taking for years, so she knew they were the wrong ones when she opened the bottle, but…Yeah, I’d be the most obsessive pharmacist on earth, I think. 🙂 And therefore slow. So yeah. “Stressful” would be the word…

This! I’m definitely on the slower side (compared to other pharmacists I’ve worked with) because of my intense fear of making a mistake. Not saying that other pharmacists don’t care, but I’m obsessive to the point where I will quadruple-check a prescription and re-read it to myself a dozen times (which must appear crazy to my co-workers/customers). When it comes to medications and patient safety, there’s no such thing as being too thorough.

But of course, there are the impossible corporate standards and arbitrary “metrics” that pharmacists must meet. We’re timed on how quickly we fill the prescriptions, answer the phones, complete prescriber follow-up and patient adherence calls, etc. On one hand, I understand I’m working for a company and the company needs to stay in business. On the other hand, though, pharmacists stress over the metrics and push themselves nearly to the breaking point so as not to attract unwanted negative attention from their corporate supervisors. And that, unfortunately, forces many to compromise thoroughness in favor of getting everything done within these arbitrary time limits. There are loads of articles and studies that have shown the negative impact of these corporate standards on pharmacists’ performance. It’s extremely sad that our profession has essentially been reduced to “fast-food pharmacy” – churning out as many prescriptions in as little time as possible, and setting the unrealistic expectation for our patients that everything can be done ASAP. Of course I don’t want to keep people waiting forever for medications, but when I have to call the doctor for clarification, or the insurance because the medicine isn’t covered, or my vendor because I don’t have the med in stock (in between which I have to stop what I’m doing to answer questions for people at the consultation window, or mix an antibiotic for a child, and so on and so forth)… the time adds up. Not to mention I don’t get a lunch break so I’m trying to force myself to take a bite of a sandwich in between all of this. 😉 

Whew, that was quite a ramble. Can you tell I harbor quite a lot of bitterness about my job? 😉 But yes, between these arbitrary corporate metrics, long shifts with no lunch breaks, working nights/weekends/holidays, and the inherent stress that comes with dealing with people’s health and well-being, the job is extremely stressful. It’s no surprise (at least in my company) that most pharmacists burn out and quit after the first few years. If I didn’t have loans to pay (and if I had the cojones and/or a plan B) I’d have quit a loooooong time ago. 😉

The shell-looking sconce from this post (I don’t have my game open at the moment and I’m craptastic at remembering the names of things :x) but apparently it’s not shiftable! And I want to say the torcher luminescence sconce also isn’t? I might be mistaken on that one, but there is at least another wall lamp that I use all the time and I’m always like BLAST IT ALL TO HELL when it doesn’t shift D:

I think Huge Lunatic has a tutorial on making things shiftable, it’s pretty easy.

Yes, I knew I’d seen a tutorial somewhere! Does it work for wall lamps too? (ack no need to answer, I’ll check it out myself over the weekend when I’m off :D)

I had to empty out an apartment building I liked cause it got glitchy :/ it was a small building with no elevator, just stairs, but then they couldn’t use the stairs!! Whenever I played Sims on the upper floor I’d have to use cheats to move them up and down the stairs, including dogs going to do their business -_-

UGH it makes me so sad that apartments in TS2 are so glitchy because I really love the concept (especially since I live in one myself!). I love the social aspect of it and how perfect it is for single Sims and couples – but then stuff like this happens and before you know it EVERYONE GETS A HOUSE because I’m fed up. 😐

I LOVE it!!!! that little patio deck!!!! It’s the perfect place to have friends over for drinks and so quaint aaaaaaahhhhh. I’m in love! I can’t blame you for loving it so much too.

I based it off of a floor plan I found and it had that cute little dining patio, and I thought it’d be the perfect opportunity to use those awning pieces I’ve had floating around in my DL folder forever. ❤ My Sims seem to like it, too – the NEVER eat in their gorgeous dining room, nooooo. Always outside, no matter what the weather. 😛

That always happens. All you have to do is turn on moveobjects and delete them, then they won’t reappear. You have to do it when you’re playing each playable household in the building. Pain in the ass, but at least it’s fixable. 🙂

Aha! Good to know. 🙂 I was afraid my neighborhood was becoming corrupted or one of my apartment mods was causing this nonsense. I feel much calmer and more prepared for the next time I decide to play an apartment building. 😉

I can say with certainty that he is the best landlord I’ve had in my game! 🙂 For starters, he didn’t hang around sniffing the flowerbeds all day and harass my Sims over the phone constantly. 😉 This trash compactor debacle just sealed the deal!

Oh, I used a fair bit of cc in there. Actually, I think almost everything is cc. 😀 I have about 10 GB of cc, so I’d better use it! 😛

lmao oh nooooo! At least you don’t have that problem anymore (right???). In my apartment, I think I’m the noisy one hahaha. Not that I make an exceptional amount of noise, but our walls are really thin and my landlord goes to bed super early – so sometimes if I get carried away listening to music or watching TV with the volume up a bit too high, I hear the broom banging on the ceiling LMAO

Yes! Kraftwerk is amazing! I saw them in D.C. during their Kraftwerk 3D tour last year and it was so much fun. I wasn’t sure what to expect (also I don’t really care for most things in 3D) but it was a super cool audio/visual experience. 🙂 I hope they do another show soon (and preferably a little closer to home – I love traveling to new cities, but I can’t always go a couple hundred miles out of the way for a show :)).

Yessss, it’s all thanks to my boyfriend! We both tried for tickets when they went on sale last week and I got completely shut out. D: He has amazing luck with tickets, I really don’t know how he does it. I hope you’re able to see them over there! They just keep getting better and better. When we saw them last summer, they played “Let Down” for the first time in ten years and I CRIED. :3

That airplane wallpaper is so cute! I really need to get over my fear of patterned wallpaper. Seriously, I have none in my game because I never use it…

Haha! I have so many downloaded because I love the patterns or because they look so pretty in previews, but I never really use them once I’m in-game. I tend to make the exception for kids’ rooms, though. 😉 Also, clashing patterns everywhere!

Sim logic at its finest! Although I can’t recall one of mine actually getting off the toilet to do the dance, that’s hilarious. 😛

Glad I’m not the only one who forgets baby names! But at least I have ‘em on a spreadsheet, so I’m not having to open SimPE. 🙂

Aaaaaand this is just one more example of what an incredibly unorganized person I am. 😉 (Really, it’s not like I’d have to manually keep written records of this stuff, it would take a few seconds to document it on a spreadsheet, but alas… I am lazy. :D)

i love this! i love how different it looks from your more urban areas, like it IS straight up suburban and the homes – at least from this glance – look so cozy and homey like lmao this is where you’d see kids playing in the street. so cute!

Ahhhhhhh thank you! I try! ❤ At least, that’s what I visualize the suburbs to be like, lmao. My boyfriend lives in a suburb so I take a lot of ideas from his neighborhood. The inspiration for the urban area comes from my neighborhood. ;D I guess I’m privy to the best of both? 😀

Heheheh, thank you! I actually have the shells saved in my test hood (the original clean, unoccupied lots). They’re mostly unfurnished but I think they all have landscaping. I’ve been thinking about uploading them. 🙂 I’m also hoping to get some more CC-free builds uploaded, too!

Aw yeah, I’m not too big on neon. I actually like most neon colors, but they have to be used in moderation (like accents or trim or something). I can’t use entire walls or couches in bright neon colors, it hurts my eyes. 😛

Any neons or super saturated colours like the blue screen mentioned. Anything else is fine. If I could make my own palette, I’d make my colours muted and dusty.

Yep, as alienpod named it: the missing-mesh-flashing-blue (or blue-screen-of-death-blue) will never be tolerated in my game. It gives me the creeps. 😛

Yes! I can’t believe I didn’t think of that one. Which is a shame, because I like that color in real life. Seeing it on my screen, however, is a different story. 😛

Same, I don’t use a lot of bright shades. That pink and purple get tossed, and usually anything yellow or orange goes too (I love a good gold or burnt orange, tho).

Yes! I’m a big fan of orange and yellow, but I’m pretty particular about the shades. I love gold/mustard yellows and burnt oranges, though. 😀 (Those are two of my favorite shades to wear in real life, too!)

Yes, there is a shade of purple that I refer to as bright/dark purple. It burns my eyes and I immediately get rid of anything in that colour!

I’m pretty sure I know exactly which shade you’re thinking of, and I toss that one, too! 🙂

I hadn’t really thought about it before, but I do tend to delete dark green stuff x.x generally if there’s a whole bunch of colours I restrict myself to one of black, white, brown, red, orange, yellow, light green, turquoise, light blue, purple, pink

Oooh, I love dark green! :3 But I find that it doesn’t always translate well in CC (especially furniture), so I wind up getting rid of it, too. It’s smart to limit yourself to certain colors – if I weren’t so indecisive and forever changing my palette preferences, I’d try to do that, too!

Hahah, that’s what’s so cool about the community! Everyone has such different color preferences. When I see people like @lilithpleasant or @dirk-dreamer use pink, purple, and pastels in their decorating, I always tell myself I should give it another try! But then I get in-game and hate everything I do and fall back into the same color schemes, lmao.

YES! ANOTHER PERIWINKLE HATER! I thought it was just me, like honestly I see that color everywhere and I thought I was weird for not liking it. Like, it’s not eye-searingly bright, it even looks like a relaxing color, but I just hate it?! And of course, missing-mesh-flashing-blue! How could I forget?

I hate certain shades of purple and turquoise. Unfortunately I do like light, bright AND dark colours, so there’s far too much stuff in my Downloads folder.

Hahaha, I’m sure there’s too much in mine too! A lot of times it depends on the CC, some clothing/furniture/deco looks better in bright colors, and some looks better in darker colors. For example, I tend to use darker/muted colors for my build mode stuff, like walls and floors. But I don’t mind some bright colors in my bodyshop folder or decorating. 🙂

I’m like this too. I always discard pastels, most neons, all oranges, browns and yellow-ish shades of green. >.<

I love orange, brown, and green in real life, but I’m pretty picky about the shades I used in my TS2 game. At least we know we have some semblance of self-control over our downloads folder – we can cull the colors we don’t like! 😛

That neon green. It hurts my eyes. Also that bright pink can go. I like pastels, but not bright, or neon colors.

Oh God, yes, that neon green! I don’t know how some people are able to use such bright color palettes in their games. A lot of the colors are pretty, sure, but my eyes! They burn! I sometimes wonder if it’s just my monitor, or I’m just getting old and my eyes can’t handle these things, haha.

I blame my trip to California! I already have one unfinished university subhood, but the entire time I was on vacation I kept thinking about how I couldn’t wait to get home and make a desert subhood, too. 😛

Honestly, though, when I start the next gen, I’m going to age up/kill off a lot of the game-generated townies and replace them with Sims made by other people. I can’t wait to put yours in my hood! Thank you both! I’m very fond of it too. (I actually saw one IRL shortly after I made it that looked just like it, even though I copied it from a floorplan online!) Now, if only some of my families could afford to live there. XD
