Hello, sorry to bother you, but I want to use that Spooky Lighting mod, and I am having a hard time finding the base game folder. I have the ultimate collection and so when I go into my program files I can not find EA Games or even Electronic Arts in either the Program Files or Program Files(X86)

Hi there! For the Ultimate Collection, you will have to go into Program Files (x86) -> Origin Games -> Sims 2 Ultimate Collection -> Double Deluxe -> Base -> TSData -> Res -> Lights. 🙂 Be sure to either backup the Maxis lighting (lighting.txt) or rename it to something else (like lighting-maxis.txt) before installing Spookymuffin’s mod. Once you add Spookymuffin’s file, rename it to lighting.txt or the game won’t recognize it. 🙂 

Do you happen to know of any dog downloads for TS2? Because I have so many cats and they are actually kinda cute which kills the dog person in me but the ones that come with the game as soooo ugly and fur textures and everything must make me shudder it’s like the puppy lover in me is being stabbed every time I look at a sims 2 dog

Meep! I’m probably the wrong person to ask, anon, because I always thought the pets in TS2 were really cute. D: I have some custom breeds (although hardly any of my Sims have pets at the moment), and they all came from MTS. I also use default pet eyes by Mara which maybe changes their appearance a bit?? I’m sorry I couldn’t be of more help!

Hi.^^ Do you use some mod for character traits (like ‘Eco-Friendly’ in the last post about Matthew) or is it something similar to challenge rules? I’m super curious!

Hi there! I’m sorry it took me so long to get back to you. 😦 I answered this way back when. 🙂 The traits system I use isn’t a mod, it’s a list of TS3 traits that I just manually roll for my Sims using an online number randomizer. 🙂 Ledesia’s original post pretty much explains everything you need to know! (I’m very bad at keeping up with it, though. I always forget to roll traits for new Sims and babies, especially when my households keep having quadruplets all at once! XD)

Hi Christine! I’m a lurker in TS2 community, but I’m starting fresh on a new laptop and was thinking of joining with posting pictures and socializing more. What do you use to edit your photos? I know a lot of people use Photoshop, but I can’t afford it! Also do you use Fraps or something else? You’re my inspiration! <3

I use Photoshop (pssssst there are other ways to obtain it). However, if you’re looking for an alternative, I know a lot of Simmers also use GIMP. 🙂 I’m afraid that’s the extent of my editing software knowledge, so if anyone else has other suggestions for anon, please let me know! 

As for taking the screencaps themselves, I do use Fraps, but some Simmers prefer Gadwin Printscreen. 🙂

I’m not sure! I think it’s only happened in my game once or twice, honestly. I don’t know if there’s anything in particular that triggers it (like Sim personality points or skill levels) or if it’s completely random. But I agree, it’s quite entertaining when it happens! 🙂 

Where do you find most of your cc?

Anon! 😛 I’ve been playing this game for nearly ten years, and my current downloads folder is a WIP over 2-3 years – I get my cc from all over the place! 

I have a resource page (it’s an ongoing WIP, though). It covers my CAS content and mods pretty extensively. I’m afraid it’s lacking build/buy recommendations, but you’re welcome to go through my WCIF tag – even if you’re not looking for those specific items, clicking a link to go to a creator’s page can bring you to more cc, or more links, which lead to MORE cc, and that’s basically how I wind up downloading things for hours when I set out to look for a single object. XD 

I don’t have any sites that I regularly check for updates these days (aside from scrolling my tumblr dash). Trappingcrushes is still an excellent resource, even though it’s no longer updated. A lot of simmers these days also have “finds” sideblogs where they reblog cc posted here on tumblr. (I have one of those, but I’m very inconsistent about posting to it. ^^;) Garden of Shadows events (like Advent, Secret Santa, Christmas in July, etc.) are a goldmine for cc to satisfy just about every taste! And don’t forget TBTO, which is also hosted on GoS now. 🙂 

I’m sorry I couldn’t be of more help, but I have so many GB of custom content I wouldn’t know where to begin. D: So, until I finally get around to updating my resource page, if there’s anything specific you see in any of my screenshots, you’re more than welcome to send a WCIF my way! 🙂

ok, curious: what is so glitchy about apartment lots? I haven’t played that many, but they’ve worked fine so far. should I be aware of any risks concerning apartment lots? any examples of typical problems that can occur with them?

There aren’t any inherent risks, per se. They are a feature of the game itself (not saying they can’t be broken :P) but they won’t automatically cause corruption or anything. I’ve just had problems with neighbors getting stuck, multiplying apartment residents, and most recently, apartment landlord and residents getting stuck in the foundation (how?? why?? I keep moving them back into the building using cheats, then hours later I get the pop-up indicating that someone has passed out on the lot, and I’m looking everywhere and everywhere and they’re in the foundation). Pescado’s FFS Lot Debugger can fix several apartment problems/glitches, but apparently my apartment neighbors are doomed to be stranded in the foundation forever. XD

Right now I can’t think of any other specific glitches I encountered, but they definitely don’t run as smoothly as a regular residential lot. Which is a shame, because as an apartment-dweller myself, I love the extra realism they add, especially in an urban neighborhood. Monthly rent, pesky neighbors, but also a sense of community with the people living around you. 🙂 (My landlord doesn’t hold pizza parties, but we do get homemade manicotti and struffoli. ^_____^)
