I was all ready to holler, “Melanie forever!” And then realised Emily is Emily Bushby, and there’s no competing with the Bushby girls

lmao! You got that right, I’m very partial to the three of them. ā¤ Melanie is adorable, but… come on. There’s no contest. šŸ˜›Ā

:O Trigun!! Haven’t watched that in ages… ā¤

I re-watched it about a year ago! I forget what made me think of it at the time, but I looked it up on youtube and sure enough, all the episodes are on there. šŸ˜€ I have to get around to re-reading the manga as well!

ā€œIt’s a boy!! šŸ™‚ Welcome the first baby in Sycamore Cove, little…ā€

*raises eyebrow* Are you sure you’re not pregnant? Nah, I’m kidding. šŸ™‚ I’m actually not the type to get attached to my Sims, but if this is your longest-lived neighborhood, I can certainly understand sentimentality. šŸ™‚

Hahaha! Not pregnant, no. Probably hormonal at the time, though. And a Family Sim at heart, regardless. ;D But yes, this is my longest-lived neighborhood by a long shot (although that’s not saying much), and I’m definitely the type to get way too attached to Sims. šŸ˜€

ā€œEvelyn teaches Sonya how to walk. Look at that determination! :Pā€

You say determination, I say she’s thinking about world domination now that she’s mobile.

You know what… on closer examination, I think you might be right! I’m going to have to keep an eye on this one. šŸ˜‰

ā€œWhat’s your job in real life?ā€

If I were a pharmacist, I’d be terrified of filling the bottle with the wrong pills. That actually happened to my aunt once, a long time ago; if she’d taken the pills she was given they’d have killed her. Fortunately, it was a pill she’d been taking for years, so she knew they were the wrong ones when she opened the bottle, but…Yeah, I’d be the most obsessive pharmacist on earth, I think. šŸ™‚ And therefore slow. So yeah. “Stressful” would be the word…

This! I’m definitely on the slower side (compared to other pharmacists I’ve worked with) because of my intense fear of making a mistake. Not saying that other pharmacists don’t care, but I’m obsessive to the point where I will quadruple-check a prescription and re-read it to myself a dozen times (which must appear crazy to my co-workers/customers). When it comes to medications and patient safety, there’s no such thing as being too thorough.

But of course, there are the impossible corporate standards and arbitraryĀ ā€œmetricsā€ that pharmacists must meet. We’re timed on how quickly we fill the prescriptions, answer the phones, complete prescriber follow-up and patient adherence calls, etc. On one hand, I understand I’m working for a company and the company needs to stay in business. On the other hand, though, pharmacists stress over the metrics and push themselves nearly to the breaking point so as not to attract unwanted negative attention from their corporate supervisors. And that, unfortunately, forces many to compromise thoroughness in favor of getting everything done within these arbitrary time limits. There are loads of articles and studies that have shown the negative impact of these corporate standards on pharmacists’ performance.Ā It’s extremely sad that our profession has essentially been reduced toĀ ā€œfast-food pharmacyā€ – churning out as many prescriptions in as little time as possible, and setting the unrealistic expectation for our patients that everything can be done ASAP. Of course I don’t want to keep people waiting forever for medications, but when I have to call the doctor for clarification, or the insurance because the medicine isn’t covered, or my vendor because I don’t have the med in stock (in between which I have to stop what I’m doing to answer questions for people at the consultation window, or mix an antibiotic for a child, and so on and so forth)… the time adds up. Not to mention I don’t get a lunch break so I’m trying to force myself to take a bite of a sandwich in between all of this. šŸ˜‰Ā

Whew, that was quite a ramble. Can you tell I harbor quite a lot of bitterness about my job? šŸ˜‰ But yes, between these arbitrary corporate metrics, long shifts with no lunch breaks, working nights/weekends/holidays, and the inherent stress that comes with dealing with people’s health and well-being, the job isĀ extremely stressful. It’s no surprise (at least in my company) that most pharmacists burn out and quit after the first few years. If I didn’t have loans to pay (and if I had the cojones and/or a plan B) I’d have quit a loooooong time ago. šŸ˜‰

Name: Christine

Nicknames: Chris (although only my family/childhood friends call me this), FiĀ

Zodiac sign: SagittariusĀ

Height: 5’3"

Orientation: straight

Ethnicity: Caucasian (Italian, Irish, German)

Favorite fruit: I LOVE fruit, my dudes. Apples (but green/semi-sweet ones that are good for baking, I find most red ones too mealy), pears (BOSC PEARS ALL THE WAY, especially when they’re not ripe at all, don’t give me soft pears), peaches, plums, strawberries, bananas, cherries… I’m not one for citrus, but I LOVE me some grapefruit.Ā

Favorite season: Summer or fall. I used to hateĀ winter (just because I’m always cold and I hate being cold), but after my trip to Iceland I have a new appreciation for cold weather and stark winter beauty. Plus, it’s cuddle weather, so, bonus. šŸ™‚Ā

Favorite book series: Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings.

Favorite flower: I looooove flowers. (My last name means flower, so I think I have to? :P) Tulips are my favorite, but I also love sunflowers, freesia, dahlias, and hydrangeas.Ā

Favorite scent: I’m a scent addict – seriously, I have a ridiculous collection of soaps and lotions and candles. I like bergamot, vanilla, sandalwood, patchouli, coconut, floral scents, amber, and musk.

On a more edible note, I love the smell of truffle oil. And bacon. And that first cup of coffee brewing in the morning. Or the smell of pizza wafting from the pizzeria when I walk down the avenue. ♄__♄ (I always have this debate with people – if you lived in an apartment above a pizzeria, would you ever grow tired of the smell? The only answer is no.)

Favorite color: Navy blue.

Favorite animal: I feel like I don’t have one anymore? 😦 This sounds sad, like I hate animals or something lol I DON’T. I have a lot of friends who have, like, an animal they’re obsessed with though. My one friend has owls on everything.Ā And my other friend is obsessed with cats, another with birds, etc. I guess I don’t have an affinity for any animal in particular. When I was little, though, I LOVED horses. Always wanted one, loved reading about them, loved drawing them, etc. Seeing them everywhere in Iceland was a DREAM COME TRUE for my 7-year-old (and 26-year-old) self.

Coffee, tea, or hot cocoa: All three, but coffee the most BY FAR. I can’t live without it. :X

Average sleep hours: 4-5 on a work night, anywhere from 7-14 on a night off lmao.Ā

Cat or dog person?Ā Either. :3 I’ve never owned a pet like that before (I’ve only had birds, hamsters, or fish) so I’d like either one!

Favorite fictional characters: OH MAN SO MANY FANDOMS. It depends on the day, really lmao. Right now I’m catching up on all the DC shows so I’m like BARRY ALLEN IS THE MOST PRECIOUS CINNAMON ROLL IN THE WORLD. (But everyone knows my superhero heart belongs to Daredevil.) Star Wars was my first fandom growing up (I lost my first tooth watching Return of the Jedi at age 7) and it occupies a massiveĀ space in my heart to this day. ♄ Old school faves are Leia and Luke, obvs, new school fave is Poe Dameron (hugelyĀ underrated, thank God he got his own comic book series because good Poe merch is hard to come by). Lord of the Rings was honestly my entire life in high school, to the point where I went to school with my hair braided like an Elf (I was not popular LMAO). Fave characters are Faramir, Boromir, Arwen, and the entire Fellowship, tbh. And of course, Harry Potter (my entire childhood, my entire adolescence. Star Wars may have come first, but I think it was Harry Potter that had the biggestĀ influence on my growing up). Sirius Black and Remus Lupin are the forever faves. Aaaaand last but not least, let’s throw in someone from Game of Thrones/ASoIaF – SER DAVOS! (Also hugely underrated, he’s great.) WAIT NO, I lied, I wasn’t finished. Can’t overlook Lady Mary Crawley of Downton Abbey (and of course, sassy Cousin Violet the Dowager).

WHEW, that’s definitely not everyone lmao (because lord knows I can’t just casually like something, I have to make my entire existence revolve around it) but that’s enough for one day lmao.

Number of blankets you sleep with: NOT. ENOUGH. I cannot emphasize to you enough how much I am always coldĀ (also the insulation in my room is v. poor and my bed is right next to a drafty window). Right now I have flannel sheets, a fleece blanket, a sherpa blanket, a wool blanket, and a comforter. I I also usually sleep with a fleece or a robe on. And if my window is really drafty, I wrap a sweater around my head lmao.Ā

Dream trip: Going back to Iceland (preferably with a one-way ticket

♄).Ā

Blog created: Is there a place to look this up? lmao I’m pretty sure I created this blog sometime in 2012 (late summer/early fall?)

Number of followers: WAY more than I ever thought I’d get lmao ;_;

♄. Seriously, every day I’m both shocked and grateful for the number of people who follow and appreciate my silly gameplay posts. Thank you!
