I desperately want to get back to playing/posting regularly, but I haven’t played this household since March (that’s right, March), and have literally NO IDEA what was going on based on the screenshots I took. So here they are, presented without comment.
How to: Make sure your new PC can play Sims 2
Here are certain numbers you need to know – they are (from the graphic rules):
seti cpuLevelHigh 3000
seti cpuLevelMedium 2600
seti cpuLevelLow 2000So when you are getting your CPU – you need to have at least 3 MHz. Now,
Sims 2 was invented before dual cores, quad cores, and octo cores – so
it doesn’t really know how to deal with them. What that means is that if
you have an octo core with less than 2600 it will lag, regardless of
the fact it actually has way more than 3000 in total.1. Look for CPU where EACH core has more than 2600. (It can cope with
dual cores kind of, so 2600 is enough). You’re better off with fewer
cores, but you can control how the game works if you have more so it’s
not a deal breaker.2. RAM – always get as much as RAM as you can. RAM is what determines how much CC you can handle.
3. If you can get your Operating System and/or your game onto an SSD
drive it will go like the clappers. An SSD drive is as fast as RAM when
it comes to accessing hard drives. This is not so much from a processing
point of view, as it is an accessing your game data point of view. Also
if you can have your paging files on a separate drive to your O/S and
game – that will make it go faster as well, because it won’t be trying
to access two different parts of the drive at the same time.4. Graphics cards – avoid NVidia if you can because there has been some
lagging trouble with them and Windows 10. Radeon and Intel seem fine.
NVidia can be OK, but needs to be tweaked to get it to work. The larger
the graphics card memory, the less problem with pink flashy. When installing your game on Windows 10 – I have a forum over at Leefish
with all the details on how to get it run, based on whether you have
Ultimate Collection or the CD/DVDs. They are in these two threads:Windows 10 Graphics Problems and CD/DVD

i learned how to convert stuff, wooo! by stuff i mean ‘one tile deco items’ but we all have to start somewhere. SO:
–budgie2budgie’s vintage signs on aikea guineas wall writing mesh, i ran into some problems with 3 of them (i think u can tell which ones lmao) but w/e i can live with the end result
-some recolors of the adorable ts3 store bear clock (that i converted b4 discovering that it has already been converted..ok @ me)
-and last but not least eryt96′s pop art cushions in all the original textures
meshes are obv included, get them all OR vintage stickers, bear clock, pop art cushions

Erin: Hear that? It’s the sound of you not playing the game properLY EVER!

10 Questions Meme
I’ve been tagged in several meme things over the past couple of weeks (during my bouts of inactivity) – so I’m sorry for not doing them! I do love participating in memes and seeing what other people come up with, but I haven’t been on my computer lately and tumblr on mobile is a nightmare. So thank you to anyone who’s tagged me in something recently (or not-so-recently) – I appreciate being thought of, and maybe I’ll go back and participate in them! …eventually. 😀
I happened to be at my computer reading @didilysims BaCC from the very beginning (which I’ve been meaning to do for awhile now <3) when @deedee-sims tagged me in a meme, so here goes! 🙂
(under a cut because god forbid I give a succinct answer for ANYTHING)
Rules: Answer ten questions, come up with ten questions, tag ten people!
1. Which Sims game was the very first you played?
TS1! TS1 forever, baby. I remember visiting my cousins in Virginia one summer when I was around ten or eleven years old. My cousins were all slightly older than I was, and wanted to do “cool” teenage things that I wasn’t interested in (probably going to the mall or something), so they let me hang out at home playing around on the computer. One of them introduced me to The Sims, and I remember building a MASSIVE box house with nowhere near enough windows to illuminate the interior, and I made 8 Sims named after the Weasleys and moved them in. 😛 It didn’t take long for me to become obsessed, and I remember asking my parents to get me the game as soon as we got back. I guess you could say the rest is history? 🙂
I continued to play TS1 for a few years after TS2 came out (because I had a shitty old computer that couldn’t handle TS2). I don’t think I got TS2 until late 2006, so yeah, the TS1 is strong with this one. 😛
2. What other games you play besides the Sims?
Not many. My last big game obsession was Stardew Valley (which I’ve been itching to get back to, truth be told). Otherwise I tend to play casual games on my Nintendo 3DS, like Animal Crossing or Pokemon. Just something that’s easy to pick up once in awhile when I don’t have the time or energy to sit at the computer. 🙂 I try to get at least one version from every Pokemon generation although I couldn’t tell you the last time I finished one. I get sidetracked with training and breeding, etc. 😛
3. Who is your favorite premade Sim?
I’m going to defer this question since I haven’t played with premades in so long I really can’t choose. 😛 Reading other people’s stories (looking at you @yakumtsaki) and BaCCs (I love what @didilysims has done by taking several premade uni students and starting a new neighborhood with them) has made me want to play with them more, though!
4. Custom objects or custom CAS stuff?
Both! Well, I go through phases. (Although I have more than enough of each, so I should definitely cut back…) Lately I’ve been more about CAS stuff, mainly because I’m still in the middle of defaulting things, so I’m always on the hunt for clothes I like enough to default. 🙂 I’ve been on a hair retexturing kick too, so I’ve been raiding the hair database.
5. One thing that you miss from the game, and hope it’ll be modded into it sooner or later?
It’s not possible, but I wish TS2 had custom body sliders. (Although we’ve said “it’s not possible” about a lot of things in the past, and look what our modding community has done. 😛) And I think someone else mentioned this already, but separate shoes in CAS/Bodyshop!
Gameplay-wise, hmmm. I’m pretty content with what we have in TS2 so far (and what our modders have been able to fix). It’d be nice to have some sort of fix (if that’s even the right word?) for playing high-rise buildings/apartments, though. We have the light-up buildings and street deco, the only thing I need to create my urban paradise is the ability to play a swanky penthouse apartment without the in-game camera driving me crazy!
6. Have you ever killed a sim on purpose?
Yes, although I haven’t done it “for fun” since my TS1 days. (Ahhh, the nostalgia of building a small room with no doors and letting my Sim set off fireworks inside.) The most recent time I did it was a few years ago, before I learned how to create a truly clean custom neighborhood. There was a mysterious mass-murder of all the premade townies on an empty lot with a lone Sim living on it, who became the town pariah and never interacted with any other residents, just had the memories of all the townies perishing… D: Oops!
7.
A cc making skill you would like to learn?
So many! I’d love to figure out 3t2/4t2 conversions, but my more immediate goal is to learn how to shoeswap. 🙂 Also, I know how to make default replacements and do them for outfits all the time, but I’ve never successfully done it with hair (so. many. groups.), so I’d like to revisit that eventually too. 🙂
8. Do you like playing businesses?
I actually haven’t played them all that much, but I’m starting to get the hang of it! They are a lot of fun, and I like the idea of a Sim running their business, and the player is able to “go to work” with them and have a hand in helping them become successful. Sometimes it feels cheaty to have them work through the regular in-game career paths, even though it’s not really. 😛
9. Have you ever played a challenge?
Attempted? Yes. Completed? No. 😛 I’ve had quite a few legacies that I abandoned after a solitary generation. Sycamore Cove is the closest thing I have to a BaCC, although I don’t play by any rules. I guess it’s a challenge in that I’m still playing it after several years without getting bored, so yay!
10. How are you?
Doing well today, thank you! Can’t ask for anything more than a quiet day off to play TS2 and watch Netflix. 😀
I’m going to take the SUPER LAZY way out and keep DeeDee’s questions instead of coming up with my own (I really liked them and the fact that they’re Sims-related!). Tagging @biffysims, @yakumtsaki, @knightsims, @terabots, @ofgodsandllamas, @lilithpleasant, @dirk-dreamer, @holesoulsims, @keoni-chan, @julessims, and anyone else who wants to do it! No pressure, sorry if you’ve been tagged already, etc. ❤
