1. Air War (David Wolf Remix) – Crystal Castles
Not my favorite Crystal Castles song, but I seem to remember shuffle being fond of CC in general, so here we go.
2. Lion in a Coma – Animal Collective
One of my favorite AC songs from one of my favorite AC albums! I actually ordered a drink at the bar I went to on my birthday because it was called Lion in a Coma. 😛 (I was grossly hungover at work the next day but that’s neither here nor there.)
3. The Model – Kraftwerk
YEEEESSS KRAFTWERK. 😀 My favorite Kraftwerk album (although my favorite song from it is “Spacelab”). Bf and I got tickets to see Kraftwerk in D.C. last summer and it was amazing, 10/10, would go again for sure.
4. Dollars & Cents – Radiohead
Whoa, Radiohead finally made an appearance on shuffle?!? Okay, so the song I linked to isn’t the exact recording that came up (you can thank my boyfriend for collecting literally every live recording of Radiohead known to man), but it’ll do. 🙂 Speaking of traveling to see bands, we just got tickets to see Radiohead in Atlanta! I’ve never been to Atlanta (or Georgia in general), but it’ll be fun to make a weekend out of it. Also, RADIOHEAD.
5. The Canals of Our City – Beirut
God, I love Beirut. So many beautiful layers of instrumentation and vocals. I got really into Balkan/Romani folk music for awhile because of Beirut. And they put on a splendid live show, too. Zach ❤
6. Here’s Everything I’ve Always Meant to Say – JamisonParker
LMFAO THROWING IT BACK TO HIGH SCHOOL. No joke, I’ve quite a few of these nostalgic albums saved on my Spotify. 😀 Anyone need lyrics for an AIM profile/away message? I GOTCHU.
7. Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now – The Smiths
The Smiths. Enough said. Moz ❤ ❤ ❤ (This is actually the first time I’m watching this video, the flowery branch in the back pocket is an… interesting look. :D)
8. Lucky – Radiohead
TWO Radiohead songs?! All right, Spotify shuffle, I see you!
9. It’s Not a Fashion Statement, It’s a Fucking Deathwish – My Chemical Romance
See notes for number 6. ;D Seriously, though, MCR always has a special place in my heart. Fun story: I had tickets to see them do a one-night-only show at MSG with Taking Back Sunday (my other favorite band at the time!). It was the night before my chemistry final AND I was sick with strep throat and a stomach bug, but HELL IF I WAS GOING TO MISS THAT. So I went anyway. D: (I spent the entire next day sick in bed and throwing up constantly, but I passed my chem final.)
10. Krafty (Live at Bestival 2012) – New Order
Finally, my 80s music makes an appearance! Another band I love and had the privilege of seeing live this past year. 😀 I could listen to New Order all day (and I have).
STILL AN EGREGIOUS LACK OF DION HERE. And Sigur Rós, which is disappointing because I literally listened to nothing but Sigur Rós for like two months. 😡
